The Halifax Metro region has grown to be a culturally diverse area of the province. Generations of Gaels from eastern Nova Scotia have been coming to the area in search of economic opportunities since the beginning of the 20th century. Many have retained ties with their home communities and show support for the Gaelic tradition through participation in cultural activities and language classes. The Metro area is home to a community of Gaelic learners, many of whom have advanced their fluency through social exchange with native speakers living in the region.

REGION METROPOLITAINE D’HALIFAX
